Hobo Nickel
Submitted by Mark on Tue, 2006-08-22 17:22Have you ever seen a carved nickel? Apparently the Buffalo Nickel was/is the most favorite coin to carve due to the size, softness and size of the indian's head (it nearly fills the entive coin face). People take the nickel and actually carve new images onto them. Check some amazing images at:

Blue Ball Machine
Submitted by Mark on Tue, 2006-07-25 22:36Here's a really cool animation of a Rube Goldberg type machine with tons of blue balls going through all types of machines. A hundred different people created the various little parts that were then assembled into the final animation:

Hello From the Smoky Mountains
Submitted by Mark on Wed, 2006-06-21 23:41This is being posted from my wife's PocketPC in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I'm using the the hotel's wireless internet connection. It's pretty cool to think I can post meaningless junk for the entire world to read using a little device the size of a calculator. It seems I should find something more worthwhile to say.
Well let's see. The sidewalks are back to normal. They were a mess earlier this year and the main street had one lane closed. The crosswalks are bricked now. Very nice.
Cade's Cove was beautiful as always. Lots of traffic but not all that bad compared to past visits. Coming on Wednesday probably helps. No bear sitings. I haven't seen any for years, now. We did see several deer including one who aimed his rear at us and, errr, excused himself!
