Crosby, Stills & Nash
Charlotte, NC
June 21, 1997
My friend Jerry had tickets
for CSN and called me to go at the last
minute. Our tickets were pretty good, on the left side. That wasn't
good enough for Jerry and he went in search of better seats. Sure enough,
he returned and waved for me to follow. Front row, dead center. We
sat and nobody ever chased us off. The guy on my other side even
apologized and said he thought he had our seats!
Late in the show, everyone was allowed to stand up very close to
the stage. David Crosby attempted to flip a guitar pick to me but it
didn't come quite close enough. A couple of guys from behind each put a
hand on each of my shoulders and used me as a launch pad to dive onto the stage.
One of them got the ticket.
Afterwards, Jerry went to the soundman (or maybe the lighting
guy) and asked for their copy of the set list. They gave it to him, but it
was a bit wrong. Apparently it was for a previous show with a little
different song order.
We wandered outside and noticed three nice busses behind the
auditorium. Yes, the front one said "Crosby," the second said "Stills" and
the last said "Nash." One bus for each of them. We went to Graham
Nash's bus and he came out and signed autographs. We tried to get David
Crosby's but his wife told Jerry that he had a doctor's visit the following day
dealing with his liver transplant. Eventually, Jerry did get her to take
his copy of the set list into the bus for David to autography.
Finally, Stephen Stills came out of the auditorium and got on
his bus. One of his people came out and took items for several people at a
time. He entered the bus and came back with them signed.
I ended up with two of their autographs on my ticket.
Jerry got all three on his set list.
